Some my think that patriotism is dead, or that it’s only displayed on the Fourth of July.

Some only think America when the national anthem is played at a ball game.

Some only think you can be proud for America by supporting the troops.

Those people would be WRONG

I challenge you to go to a United States National Team Soccer match. That can be the National Women’s team or the Men’s Team.

There you will be surrounded by the most fanatical fans sports have…they are there to cheer on our team, America’s team…in a sport that is known world wide.

How can I wait a year to watch this…Peter Jackson looks to have another great movie.

It’s not due out until December 2012. Can’t wait to see the young Bilbo and the wise Gandalf.

Life Magazine has their 107 pictures of the year and to me they are all wonderful, gripping, powerful, and horrific.

But this one is special to me.

Hawkeye, a labrador retriever, lays by the casket of his owner, Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson, during Tumilson’s funeral in Rockford, Iowa. Tumilson, 35, was one of 38 killed when a rocket-propelled grenade took out a U.S. Chinook helicopter in Afghanistan on August 6.

I cheer for the Ridgeville Hornets

Nothing like cheering for the local favorite the Ridgeville Hornets.

What? never heard of the Ridgeville Hornets? The are out of Franklin County…in March of 1861 that is…

My Great Great Great Uncle Allen G Pollock was a Ridgeville Hornet and went off to war with others in the First TN Regiment.

We are fortunate that we can trace every battle that he was in…what battles he was wounded in, the hospital he stayed at during recovery and his death at Gettysburg.

We made Jack this T-Shirt with the information on the front and the First TN Flag on the back

Some people my feel offended by seeing the Confederate Flag on my website…first off that’s the battle flag used along with over a dozen other flags…the Confederate Flag looks like this

For my family the war wasn’t about slaves (never owned any) it was about the Union States trying to control how the Southern states conducted their business, lives and slavery was a part of that but it wasn’t the only part as many would believe.

It is part of my family history and with all the different parts from 1075 to 2011 those parts makes up our story.
